Viognier - The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker)
The 2012 Descendant Old Viognier reveals a lovely honeysuckle and ripe apricot nose accented by nutmeg and allspice plus honeyed pears. Big, rich and concentrated, it is quite fresh and shows a nice texture that is more creamy than oily, and finishes long and perfumed.
Not available in export markets.
The 2010 Viognier displays notes of ripe apricots, mango and guava with hints of acacia honey, orange peel and jasmine. Full bodied rich and generous in the mouth, it has a pleasant touch of oiliness to the texture and a good long finish. Delicious now, it should keep to 2014.
2010 - 2014 |
The 2009 Viognier is made from the leftovers that are not co-fermented with RunRig. It's all wild yeast and 100% barrel fermented in 100% new French barriques. Intensely perfumed of peach blossom, orange blossom, acacia honey and apricots with some lemon curd, it is full-bodied, crisp and silky, with a long peachy finish. Drink this one now to 2013. Mainly sold through the cellar door and restaurants, only 2-3 barrels are normally produced.
