2007
(100% shiraz) Inky ruby. Heady aromas of cassis, boysenberry, candied plum and licorice, with notes of cocoa powder and dried flowers coming up with air. Deeply concentrated dark berry flavors are given a bitter edge by cherry pit and black cardamom notes, with velvety tannins adding structure. A very smooth shiraz whose sweet, penetrating black and blue fruit flavors cling impressively on the finish.
2006
100% Shiraz. Opaque ruby. Exotically perfumed, pungent bouquet of dark berries, smoky minerals and floral oils. Sexy cola and vanilla flavors complement sweet black raspberry and cassis on the palate, with dusty tannins adding grip. The fruit ultimately sucks up the tannins on the finish, which is seductively sweet and very long. Appealing already but I'd give this deep, suave wine at least another four or five years in the cellar.
2005
Bright ruby. Deep, spicy blackberry and cassis aromas, along with a range of incense, floral and mineral accents. Sexy licorice candy and cola notes emerge with air and are repeated on the palate. Sweet dark berry flavors are nicely firmed by youthful tannins and brisk acids, with a late-arriving cinnamon note adding interest. The impressively pure, long finish is suave, silky and fresh.
2004
Saturated ruby-red. Deep, powerful and exotic on the nose, with explosive aromas of raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, rose pastille, baking spices and cracked pepper. Lush and velvety, the red and dark berry flavors showing excellent depth and beguiling sweetness, but not at the expense of clarity. As delicious as this is right now, a few years of patience should bring even more complexity.
2003
Deep ruby. Explosive, powerful aromas of blackberry, wild cherry, red plum, violet, coffee, licorice candy and peppered bacon. Then silky, suave and creamy on the palate, with concentrated flavors of creme de mure, ripe blackcurrant, anise and exotic oak spice. Finishes long and sweet, with round tannins and a hint of five-spice powder.
2002
Saturated medium ruby. Open-knit aromas of cassis, liquid smoke, violet and gunflint; very syrah. Superrich and chewy, with complex, expressive flavors of black and white pepper, game and truffle. Finishes long and lush, with sweet tannins and lingering notes of mocha and woodsmoke.
2001
Deep red-ruby. Nose combines rustic, charmingly uncultivated dusty, meaty aromas with sweet red and black berries and assertive new oak. Smooth and concentrated, with vibrant jujube-like fruit flavors delivered along a fleshy, juicy palate finishing tightly knit and earthy. Neither heavy nor hard, and showing no sign of excessive ripeness or oak.
