Steading Blanc - The Wine Companion
2010
Mid-gold; pure honeysuckle, melon and pear bouquet, offset by straw and lemon curd; the palate is soft and succulent, relying on texture and spice for its personality. Marsanne/Roussanne/Viognier.

Glowing yellow-green; the varieties come together well to produce a full-bodied wine with inbuilt texture and structure; there is enough acidity for the wine to develop further over the next few years. Cork.

The wine relies mainly on texture and structure, for the varieties quite properly merge without a break in the line; honeysuckle, apple and pear are all in the picture. What will be most interesting is the wine in five years' time. Cork.

Varietally correct, but rather brutish, mouthfilling, confrontational wine; others will enjoy it more.

Light to medium yellow-green; the complex, tangy bouquet gives the impression of subliminal oak, which may or may not be there. The palate scores for the depth and weight of its mouthfeel more than simply the slightly tangy/herbal fruit. Very much in the Torbreck mould. Dave Powell says in the back label "Since we've had success with a few of the red Rhone varieties, we would thought we would give some of the whites a try".
