Les Amis - The Wine Companion (James Halliday)

2009

Deep garnet; the bouquet is savoury, dark, brooding and spicy, with lots of charry oak on display; the palate reveals a rich, hedonistic and spicy grenache, with layers of spice, black fruit, fruitcake and prunes; there is life and energy on the finish, with the new oak a mere seasoning for such concentration.  Drink by 2020.

2002 Richly perfumed and spiced; far more density and flavour than most Barossa Valley examples; sultry, smoky berry fruit; very good structure. Grenache.
